Dear Friend, It is almost the last day of 5774,Rosh Hashana is approaching ,it is a time to realize what really matters, Many things have happened to me and to people I care about in the past year but as I try to think about them I feel they are overshadowed and dwarfed by the magnitude of the things we are going through as a nation.I do however feel conscious of how much it meant to me and how blessed I am to have such great friends during good times and times that were more challenging. I recently heard a class during which the rabbi mentioned that sometimes, heroism is forced upon us but some of us then rise and become true heroes by choice. In the past months we have seen simple forced-heroes become figures that will go down in history as heroes, hero-mothers who lost their children in the most atrocious way become a source of inspiration for an entire nation ,young soldier-heroes bravely entering narrow tunnels full of explosives so that young Jewish children in Sderot and other places dont have to spend their childhood in bomb-shelters , and many more ... We are all confronted with anti-Semitism (sometimes masked as anti-Zionism) in some way or form, we should rise to the challenge and fight back, bowing, reasoning and hiding will not get us anywhere. We should keep in mind that in matters that affect our people we have no right to compromise. In this time during which heroism is forced upon all of us let us try to be heroes by choice. When we look out for one another,God looks out for all of us.
