Dear Friends -- This is it, the day weve been working for since late 2011. More than 4,000 Floridians worked to put Amendment 1 on the ballot, to protect the water, the rivers, the lakes, the springs and beaches we hold dear as Floridians. Over 4,500 donated money, and more than 40,000 signed up to get involved. Over 400 diverse organizations joined the fight, Amendment 1 received over 20 editorial endorsements from Floridas leading newspapers, and over 50 respected elected officials at every level of government and from both parties said I endorse Amendment 1. Will you take this moment to remind your friends and associates to get out and vote YES on Amendment 1 today? Passing a constitutional amendment takes 60% of the vote, a very high bar. It takes people from every walk of life, every political party, every demographic group, every one of our cities, counties and small towns. Fortunately, we all need clean water. This is our best chance of assuring it, for the next 20 years, by dedicating less than 1% of Floridas budget. It is not a new tax, but rededication of an existing funding source, the documentary stamp tax, originally levied in part to conserve Floridas Water and Land. Call five friends. Likely less than half of all Floridians will vote, midterms are tough. Offer to take your elderly or disabled friends to their polling place. Ask your work colleagues Have you voted yet?
