Here is some information for GATE aspirants: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology that are listed below on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The GATE committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and declaring the results. GATE is conducted through the constitution of eight zones. The zones and the corresponding administrative institutes are: Indian Institute of Science Bangalore Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur Indian Institute of Technology Madras Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee A valid GATE score is essential for obtaining financial assistance during Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture, and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science in Institutes supported by the MHRD or other Government agencies. The GATE 2014 Online Application Link will be available from midnight of 31st August 2013 GATE 2014 examination will be held during forenoon (09:00 AM to 12:00 noon) and afternoon (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM) sessions on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 1st February 2014 and 2nd March 2014. New in GATE 2014 A new paper ”Ecology and Evolution” is introduced in GATE 2014. Examinations for all the 22 papers will be conducted by an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT). The online examination paper will contain some questions for which numerical answers must be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keypad. Rest of the questions shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type. GATE 2014 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon sessions on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 1st February 2014 and 2nd March 2014. Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2014 will be held in multiple sessions. Exact details on complete examination schedule will be notified at a later date.
