Dear Friends, Greetings from SAYC! As you must have read - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, Greetings from SAYC! As you must have read here, SAYC 2014 is planned for 25th December. This, is an invitation for you to join in. But, dont treat it as an invitation alone - we dont have too much of a choice. It is a time when the regions of the world are coming closer, trying to revive their economies and negotiating collectively on international platforms. The question is : what will the largest youth population in the world do? Will it just sit and watch, let political power continue to cater to a few and hope things get better? Or, will it come together, seize the moment and create a powerful regional movement? The answer, depends on what you, and many other leaders like you do (in general, and particularly on 25th December) So whats planned A. SAYCx (the offline events) The real value of SAYC is its face to face connections and conversations. And while there is no central event to come to, there is always an opportunity to connect locally (a great reason to meet and connect) So on 25th you can: 1. Invite a speaker / facilitator related to South Asia (from the government, academia, a young leader, a media person) to share their views on the theme (youth power in South Asia). This can be followed by discussions (we recommend a short 30 minute speech + 15-20 minute discussion, and up to 90 minutes for a workshop) 2. Host a South Asian Circle : bring together 8 - 15 people over a cup of chai (or kavha or thumba or coffee) to have a conversation about South Asia. You will use an article / video as a conversation opener and then discuss, document your discussions and share (we recommend the discussions to be 90 minutes at most) 3. SAYC Challenge: Do something creative to connect to the spirit of South Asia - imagination is your only limit! From connecting as many countries as possible on a skype call to some installation and from a rally to a mushaira....all around the theme i.e. youth in South Asia What ever you plan to do - SHARE WITH US!!! So that we can tell the world about it. B. The SAYC (online) The rest of SAYC moves online 1. Webinars (45 mins) : Host an online workshop and have a South Asian audience (write to us with a webinar proposal) 2. Action Based Change Declaration : To be drafted online, remember to be there! 3. The Alumni hangout : 3 slots for the 3 SAYC participants to meet, share stories or just say Hi! 4. The Online Storm : getting #SouthAsia trending on twitter, flooding Facebook with memes and art related to South Asia, online discussions (about both comfortable and difficult topics) C. Why you HAVE to act! SAYC runs solely to build a strong South Asia. No organisations profit from it, financially. It doesnt have a political agenda or backing. And it has been carried forward with leadership from teams of Blue Ribbon, Naseem Khan Achakzai (HILA, Pakistan) and Jaya Ram Nepali (AYON, Nepal) It is our movement, really - and it is our generations dream to build solidarity in the region. Personally, we are sure it will have its own reward - whether it is on your resume, or through an invitation for SAYC 2015, or just out of the connections you build and the fun you have! Let us come together, and continue building this movement - we have a couple of weeks to go, so the time to act is RIGHT NOW :) Lots of Love and Peace Abhishek on behalf of Team SAYC
