Dear Friends, I am forwarding to you some information about the upcoming gathering in support of EuroMaidan in Kyiv. We hope to see you there. Slava Ukrayini! Dear members of the Ukrainian community in Rochester, The events of the last 10 days in Ukraine cannot be ignored by any Ukrainian! The highhandedness of the administration, provocations, humiliation of citizens, massive electoral fraud, attempts at strict control of media, corruption of judges and procurators – this all characterizes the current government in Ukraine under the direction of Yanukovych. However, the real Ukrainian nation and its loyal citizens stand apart from this wicked regime and its ...president! Our fellow Ukrainians stand at Maidan with fortitude and dignity defending their rights, independence and freedom. The Ukrainian diaspora cannot just stand aside and watch these events unfold, but should take action to support the Ukrainian nation! At this difficult time for Ukraine, we call on all concerned Ukrainians in the diaspora and our local Rochester community to a gathering with local politicians on Saturday, December 7 at 9:30 am at the Ukrainian Centennial monument on the grounds of Irondequoit Town Hall on Titus Ave. We will sign petitions for the support of Maidan and initiation of sanctions against the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and their cabinet. There will also be the opportunity to donate funds to support people of EuroMaidan in Kyiv, to support Hromadske TV, hromadske.tv/, which is covering the Maidan events devotedly and accurately 24 hours a day. Hromadske TV gives the outside a realistic picture of events in Ukraine. Journalists, who are risking their health and lives daily without pay, need our financial support to continue their important mission!
