Dear Friends, I got my Christmas miracle last week. Walking down - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, I got my Christmas miracle last week. Walking down the hall to the changing room at the GoodLife Fitness gym, I stumbled towards the wall and caught myself with my cane. Later, that night, I called in sick at work because I was still light-headed. For over 25 years, this would have preceded a misdiagnosis of MS or an exacerbation of the brain disorder that I do have. This time, it was the opposite. It was, like when a infant learns to walk for the first time, my gait returning to normal. I did not wish to write about it until I was certain that it was not transient, and until I had a chance to inform the one person who contributed the most to it. Since last week, I have been able to go up and down stairs unassisted; indeed, for the second day in a row I have been able to run and down the stairs on the 101 Regiment of Foot Bridge. Today, I used the treadmill for the first time and walked at a brisk pace for 0.12 km. My breathing, as I suspected it would, has become easier. Yesterday, this is why my cane was in my helmet for the first time while I did my walking meditation on the Green and why the thief stole my can when he stole my helmet and why it was so ironic and so funny and why he did not leave me stranded. So many of you have contributed to making this miracle possible and I would like to single out Brian Simpson and Ian D Fish for their inspiration. Brian, my intention was to virtually row to Boston to see you cross the finish line. I will not be giving up the cane just yet on account of the weather and there is still some weakness, but I am praying that I will be given the chance in the spring after lots of hard work this winter. Bless you, one and all!
