Dear Friends, I would like to invite you to an official screening of my maiden documentary Essential Arrival- Michigans Indian Immigrants in the 21st Century at 2:00 pm on Saturday February 7th, 2015 at 1500 Social Science Building at the University of Michigan Dearborn Campus. Come join us this afternoon in sharing and celebrating the immigration experiences and the confluence of Indo American cultures taking America to new heights of economic success. Producers Note The documentary Essential Arrival-Michigan’s 21st Century Indian Immigrants is my way of saluting my Indian heritage and displaying the American value of cultural pluralism that allows different cultures to survive, thrive and give back to the mainstream culture. As a comparative and applied sociologist I have been working with different immigrants and studying their paces and patterns of acculturation for last two decades. This film is a medium to present my research on Indian immigrants in an interesting and entertaining way. A Short Summary We recognize America as a nation of immigrants but that heritage is not just a matter of history: It continues to be built today. This film provides an in depth look at a new featured player on Americas immigration stage, Indian immigrants. For as large a role this group will play in coming decades, surprisingly little is known about who Indian are, what values drive them and what they have to contribute to the contemporary American economy, striving to remain on top in a complicated globalized world. Interviewing experts from field of law, sociology and public policy, in addition to many families from Indian immigrants in Michigan, this film paints a comprehensive and essential picture of Indian Americans.
