Dear Friends, Ive been off Facebook for over a year, glad to be - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, Ive been off Facebook for over a year, glad to be back! And glad to set the record straight with my good friend Rugaba Kashillingi who should surely have checked with me or the General Manager of Tullow before alleging that Tullow could lie to the Ugandan public about spending USD 7.5 million on training Ugandans since 2004. Ndugu Rugaba Kashillingi has since yesterday been in receipt of a detailed breakdown of Tullows training expenditure. For just the period 2011 to 2013, i.e. excluding 2014 and excluding our training spend for 2004-2010: Tullow Uganda trained 121 civil servants, sponsored 40 beneficiaries of the Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme and provided 917 training opportunities to Tullow Uganda employees. Total spend for 2011 was (rounded off) USD 833,000; 2012 USD 3.5 million; 2013 USD 2.87 million. The total spend for just those 3 years, out of the 10 years we have been training Ugandans, is USD 7.2 million. The total spent on TGSS for the 3 years was USD 2.4 million; govt employees: USD 1.6 million and Tullow employees USD 3.22 million. Across the 10 year period, considering that our 2014 spend alone will be close to USD 2 million, we have deifnitely spent more than the USD 7.5 million or Shs 19 billion reported by our General Manager at the recent TGSS ceremony and reported by The Observer newspaper. I have been patiently waiting for my good friend Rugaba Kashillingi to share these facts with you all, having raised a very skeptical debate on Twitter and I was also waiting for him to share the fact that he has been made aware that what I am giving you as facts can be independently verified with the Ministry of Energy who approve our budgets and the Auditor General, who audits our expenditure for future cost recovery (note: the TGSS spend is not cost recoverable but verification can be done with the British Council, who independently select the beneficiaries on our behalf) - Investigative Editor Chris Obore has a critical mind and is now encouraged to verify independently. Tullow is an ethical and honest partner of Ugandas development. I am happy to clarify anything on this matter to Rugaba Kashillingi who ought to make a comment in this forum about shooting at us before checking for the truth. Rest assured Tom Mbalinda, Andrew GK, Penny Kansiime, Chris Obore, Muzahuura Kenneth, Mucunguzi Samson, Hope Katwiine, Liz Mutesi, Patricia Mwijutsya, Lillian Andama, St. Muhereza Kyamutetera, Gideon Paul Ojwanga, Simon Kasyate, Patrick Otim, Andrew Mwenda, Andrew M. Mwenda and Wapakhabulo Wonyanyanbulo and Wanyama Don Innocent and Jack Daniel Kaliinaki
