Dear Friends: Let me begin by congratulating this election’s winner, Ruth Wattenberg, and applaud the hard work of the other candidates, Phil Thomas and Tricia Braun. I wish each of them the very best. We didn’t get the result we wanted last night, even though we all worked tirelessly. Our campaign was about the most important issue confronting our city: closing the achievement gap. We can celebrate the fact that our work is adding to the momentum to address this crisis. It was my name that was on the ballot yesterday, but in truth, we all were. It has been a joyful and humbling experience to share this cause together. I am blessed to be a part of our community, and to have your friendship. Thank you.
