Dear Friends, Over the past five years I have gotten to know so - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, Over the past five years I have gotten to know so many of you. Some of you have become rather close to me as I have with you and all of you can speak the same about your experience with Superfly Sunday. We can all remember our first time attending this event maybe because someone invited you out, you heard about it online as you were looking for something to do on a Sunday night because you were bored or just because you were new to the area. I can think back to even my own experiences when it was my first time going and how nervous I was. Nervous because I was brought in like many of you and not knowing what people would think of me or my car. Shortly after attending Superfly, I began making a new list of friends much like all of you have. Think back to some of the friends you have today and trace them back...if they are into cars, some are lifelong friends that we cannot take credit for but some are friends and relationships that started right here at Superfly Sunday. Friendships that will be here long after and relationships that have grown into something special that no one could have predicted much like the relationship of Adam Labin (one of the persons that started this event) and married his wife via this event. Superfly has had several relationships start here and I cant take credit, but they are happily together today. As for the person that puts on this event and as a person that attended regularly when I was younger, I myself have made some pretty incredible friendships. Ive become close. A lot of you come up to me and ask me how I am feeling, how I am doing, hows my health... some of the most genuine most caring people that a guy could know. With these friendships there have been lots of smiles as we wave hello to one another, some only on that one day of the week. Some more often. Other friendships have brought great pain and sorrow as we as an organization were forced to say goodbye...some that were well liked by us all. Those who when we waved hello to that one last time and had no idea it was goodbye as well. There are those who like me for what Ive done and there are some that dont like what Ive become. But a fact that no one can deny is I have put this organization first in more ways than most will ever see, and I did it all the time. As a group we pulled together to do something great for people we dont even know. We came together and purchased toys for needy kids, we put together drives to put food on the tables of those those that cant. We ignored the people that watched us rather did joined us and we did it while people poked fun at us when really, it just made them look bad themselves. Heres the part that beats me up: Superfly has for generations touched someone we know and is known by someone we know. Thats what I worry about. I worry that someday no more generations will learn about what it is and only what its been. As of recent, my worry is more and more a reality as for personal reasons I am pulling myself away from the event and feel that its best that something that has served many end on these terms which are great terms. We had a incredible Showdown this year, new faces attended our event, we did positive things for our community and we did all this with organization and togetherness. Its time we said goodbye to one another and hold on to the memories this event has brought to us all, the relationships we all built, and the people that have brought you this event for years way before I became somewhat of a name. Its sad to say and see Superfly Sunday come to an end after year and years of tradition. Something to think about: 16 year history! Even though the event is coming to an end, Its made it 16 years, weve had one marriage from the event that I know of, had made countless friends and something more made here, a ton of fun - including the shenanigans, and got to see almost every parking lot in city of Akron sorta like a 16 year tour of parking lots (my attempt at making light of the situation). And ill admit... Spaghetti Warehouse was an awesome location but that was before my time of operating this event, so naturally, I have to say that for me in my time of running Superfly Rolling Acres!!! ;) However, no matter the location, no matter where you all came from: We had fun. I had fun! I want to thank the so many faces that I have grown to learn. I want to thank the years of people that have stood behind me and Superfly that came in and devoted and their efforts to make sure this event went off enjoyable. Especially to those that made the show go on despite those who said it was to end. I could write so many thank yous that I could write another page... but I would feel uncomfortable trying in fear that I would leave someone that deserves attention and not getting it. Stay Tuned Superfly and Be Safe Lenny
