A classy musical ambassador of love, Caesar deftly personifies both. Years ago, Caesar found himself in the business world on a career path with a rising trajectory. Working as a contractor for the government internationally as well as with Fortune 500 companies in an executive capacity, his future promised financial security yet something was missing. His spirit yearned to spread love through song. Caesar decided to follow his passion. He left his job determined to share his suave and sophisticated voice with the world. The Chicago native settled in Los Angeles and his big break occurred when he aced an audition at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas to sing on a world tour with superstar Julio Iglesias. Despite the high-profile gig, Caesar lost his home. While living in his car, he developed the ability to sing in multiple languages. The dulcet-toned crooner with the debonair delivery never stopped believing in his mission to bring love and elegance back into popular culture through song. Caesar went on to sing with some of the biggest artists in music, including Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Al Jarreau, Lou Rawls, Jonathan Butler, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, Peter White, Marion Meadows, Michael Paulo, Ronnie Laws and many more. Having cultivated a creative relationship with guitarist White, Caesar found the ideal collaborator to help produce his debut album: a collection of classics made famous by Nat King Cole. White’s melodic eloquence on nylon string guitar speaks the same language of love and sublimely melds with Caesar’s urbane baritone. Together, they forged a divine sound that had never been heard. To enhance the authenticity of the “Jazz Standards – For Today’s Audience” project funded by fans, Caesar entered the hallowed halls of Capitol Records to record in Studio A where Cole recorded. He sang into the original microphone and used the same Steinway piano Cole played. Gifted with a style all his own, Caesar put a unique spin on each tune. He possesses the rare ability and adaptability to sing in an acoustic setting as well as in front of a big band or orchestra. 22-time Grammy-winner Al Schmitt and 3-time Grammy-winner Charlie Paakaari engineered the sessions. The ardent ambiance on the album is established from the opening notes of “The Very Thought of You” as graceful guitar, swatches of strings, evocative tenor sax and gentle piano etchings provide a gorgeous backdrop for Caesar’s golden-throated voice. In the hands of Caesar and White, “I Wish You Love” soothes the pain of parting. The multilingual singer skillfully emotes “Autumn Leaves” in Japanese, English and French over an exotic samba groove. More Brazilian jazz bewitches on Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars.” Caesar serenades in Spanish on Quizás, Quizás, Quizás” (“Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” in English), a sultry Cuban jazz number. The balladeer has enchanted audiences for years by performing “Mona Lisa” in concert thus a must to be included on this disc. Many of the tracks have sparse accompaniment allowing Caesar’s stunning vocal caress to occupy the spotlight unencumbered. “I Remember You” provides a fitting example. “My Funny Valentine” captures the heart with a rhythmic groove, vibraphone solo and an alto sax swoon. After another version of “Autumn Leaves (Groove Mix)” seduces with Latin rhythms and White’s amorous guitar poetry, the set closes with “Nature Boy,” which aptly embodies Caesar’s message of love. Symbolizing the unlikely journey he has taken to follow his muse, Caesar is pictured on the album cover high atop the tallest building west of the Mississippi, Los Angeles’ U.S. Bank Tower.
