Dear Friends, The Caribbean American Intercultural Organization (CAIO) ,Monad Marketing Group (MMG), IN ASSOCIATION WITH the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Caribbean Community Affairs MACCCA) and the DC Office of Community Affairs are currently planning JAMMIN DC to be held on September 28th at Freedom Plaza. CAIO is asking for monetary donations to support this collaborative effort to spread the Caribbean culture to the wider community of nations. All donations received will be tax-deductible and used to fund JAMMIN DC which allows first, second and third generation Caribbean - Americans to connect with, and appreciate their ancestral heritage. FREEDOM PLAZA - September 28th, 2013 12pm – 7pm 1455 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, DC JAMMIN DC is a FREE multi-cultural contemporary, out¬door music and arts festival that will be held annually in Washington DC, in celebration of the Caribbean-American heritage of 28 Caribbean countries. These Caribbean nations and territories include Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos, and the US Virgin Islands. It will be the larg¬est presentation of English, Spanish, French and Dutch speaking Caribbean culture on the east coast. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS: Main Stage The best in Caribbean international entertainment including performers from the English, Spanish and French speaking islands, along with locally based Caribbean entertainers. Embassy Row Caribbean Embassies will be able to showcase the best their respective countries have to offer. Kids Zone Will include children performances, face painting, storytelling, games, moon-bounce and more. Food Court Vendors will feature the full culinary delights of the Caribbean. Cultural Village Juried craft emporium, art exhibit, book signings, fashion showcase and more. Carnival Village Featuring steel-drum bands, costumed revelers and stilt walkers among other attractions. Community Outreach DC Government will have a tented area to communicate information about city services and programs that benefit the Caribbean community.
