Dear Friends The Election to CEC, ATC Guild India has commenced and being a candidate for the post of Treasurer in the CEC, it seems natural for me to introduce myself to all my friends ATCOs. Quite a few of us know me by name, a few by fame and rest will know me since I am in the game. I Joined AAI in March 1997 at CATC. I have worked at CSI, Mumbai (1998-2002), AAI CHQ (2002-2005), Barapani Airport (2005-2006) and now in IGI Delhi (2006 onwards). Those who know me are aware of my passion with Computers. I have been actively associated with ATC Guild since my joining in 1998 at Mumbai and now at Delhi. My love for computers has taken me to uncharted waters in ATC where few have ventured. Those who participated in APRM2012 would have seen me at the Front Desk using self-designed Registration Software for registering participants in the APRM 2012. It was a huge success in keeping the wait to minimum for registration and in providing printed Badge and recording their Arrival, not to mention keeping the Electronic record for Fees collected from the Participants. I am a Qualified ATC Instructor for all Procedural and Radar Control Services at Delhi. Additionally, I design Software tools for ATC Support Operation. Apart from using my capabilities in ATC, few areas where I have performed are CANSO Benchmarking of AAI, Delhi Upper airspace, Statistical Data Analysis for Delhi, Management of ATC Training Procedures, Web based solution for ATC Operation, MIS Tool design, Analysis of AFTN Data etc. My mission has been Better and Faster management of resources by means of Automated Data Collection, Transparency and adherence to Regulations. ATCOs are professionals. We comprise of small community of less than 3000 executives of all mature age groups, of all communities, of all executive ranks excluding Chairman at all operational airports / Offices of AAI, something comparable to Republic of India with people of all States speaking different languages and culture bound together under one name. In India, we have all faction groups such as Brahmins, Muslims, Punjabis, Bengalis, Tamilians etc but sadly no Indian. Similarly we have all faction groups in ATC speaking differently and fighting within ourselves forgetting that others are benefitting out of it. Time is changing fast and so are Govt Policies about Aviation. Let’s be united to achieve what best for our cadre. We have a bloodcurdling past…. We learnt a lot from it. Few dare to remember it. Those who joined after year 2000 hardly know it. It is too terrifying a legacy to pass on. Those who faced it have learnt to live in its shadow. Others who saw it don’t even try to think of it. We have started afresh. Our job has never been the same ever since. It made us an experienced lot. The time is to look forward. It’s the future that beckons us. What we choose today is going to decide our future. So let us be wise. Instead of being driven by unprofessional agendas and false promises, Members of the Guild are urged to consider the suitability of the Candidates on following parameters:- 1) Vision 2) Empathy 3) Truthfulness 4) Courage 5) Leadership 6) Knowledge No candidate is Superhuman; neither are his capabilities. To demand so is foolishness on our part. One may succeed at times, falter sometimes. This is human. What we should seek in our leaders are: his Vision that drives him; his Empathy which allows him to understand his surroundings; his Truthfulness, which generates confidence in him; his Courage that provides him with the energy; his Leadership that influences others and his Knowledge that arms him. The ATC Guild’s strength is its Members. Let us prove it by making a conscious decision rather than a biased decision.
