Dear Friends, We are the registry committee from Indonesian Development and Economics Studies Faculty of Economics University of Indonesia (KANOPI FEUI). We are now conducting an event called The 12th ECONOMIX, with this year theme “ The Collapse of Industrial Civilization : What Should Asia Do? ” The main event will be held on November 16th – 20th, 2014 in University of Indonesia Depok, West Java, Indonesia. The targeted participants of the 12th Economix are undergraduate from all majors around the world who will represent their respected universities and countries in this event. The idea of the theme is inspired by Safa Moteshareei’s Handy Model which explains that unsustainable resources exploitation and unequal wealth distribution can lead a civilization into collapse. As a continent with the world’s largest population, this is a serious challenge Asia is facing. In recent years, air pollution from industries has worsened; furthermore, the Gini coefficient in Asia has increased from 0.3 in 1970s to 0.47. Given this condition, 12th Economix will facilitate debates and discussions by competition, conference, seminar and international gathering to find the best solutions for Asia to avoid the worst scenario of industrial civilization.
