Dear Friends, What are the ingredients for successful, sustainable development? Should they include the rule of law, property rights, freedom of speech and the media, open political choice, access to justice, and accountable government? All those elements have been included in a new agenda-setting vision on world development priorities for 2015–2030, delivered this week to the United Nations. The new ideas, set out in “A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies through Sustainable Development,” post2015hlp.org/the-report/will kick-start a debate at the UN in the months ahead on our common future. We hope states will embrace the report’s bold goals for the central role of justice, and agree on measurable development targets that will make a real difference in people’s lives.
