Dear Friends, Yesterday, I received this clip from a friend. The Ghazal is written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and it is recited by the legendary Zohra Sehgal (1912-2014). I have played it several times. And every time, yeh dil mange more I am told it was recorded in Feb 2014, just a few months before the demise of this fabulous artiste, in July 2014. For those who may not know, Faiz was a Lt Col in the British Indian Army, who resigned from his military service soon after the Kashmir war began in 1948. He was nominated for the Nobel prize. The meanings of the lyrics are given on the clip. Please notice the masterly manner in which Zohra ji delivers the last line. The total duration of the clip is a mere 1.57 minutes.
