Dear Friends of Green Gulch and the creek, The alder trees are - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends of Green Gulch and the creek, The alder trees are ready to be planted along the newly restored creek meander. The rains have come. We have about 100 alders in five gallon pots all ready to go. All we need is YOU! Please come to the Sunday December 14th Watershed Work Party! goo.gl/vhD8J1 We’ll meet at the Restoration Site near the horses at 1 pm. Muffins and tea will be served. Come at 12:15 pm for a complimentary lunch in our dining room. RSVP! 415 354-0432 or [email protected] Wear foot gear for mud! The alders were harvested and potted up (by some of you!!) in the neighboring valley in April through the kindness of NPS and the Parks Conservancy. Now, with new roots grown, they are all ready to return to the earth to shade our creek, keep the water cool for young coho salmon, and to hold the soil in place. The day will be guided by a non-profit group called STRAW (Students and Teachers Restoring a Watershed). They will show us how to prepare the soil, plant, and protect the tree from weeds and deer. I have watched this group in action with groups of students and they are experts! It’s the big event of the month. Come one, come all for a day of labor and celebration! Please feel free to share this invitation with friends and colleagues who may be interested in coming. With deep appreciation for your love and support of this valley, Sukey & Sara
