Dear Friends of Schools for Salone, With sincere gratitude and appreciation, Schools for Salone is proud to announce that we have been awarded a one-year $75,000 grant from The McPherson Family Foundation. This grant will enable us to build upon our successes and expand our efforts in improving education in Sierra Leone, especially for girls, in the coming year. The grant will contribute predictable funding to our efforts to pursue our three broad strategic priorities - enhancing educational access, improving educational effectiveness, and strengthening organizational effectiveness and partnerships. Importantly, it will enable us to accelerate our efforts to ensure girls participation in our school programs; maintain and upgrade the physical infrastructure of existing schools; build up to four new schools in the next three years; expand literacy and library programs in our schools; increase community health education efforts, access to clean water and sanitation at all our schools; multiply efforts to improve teacher tools and skills; and increase Schools for Salones ability to expand all of these programs to reach more students and more communities in the coming year.
