Dear Friends , some good news on the following note we had written to the Principal Secretary Urban Local Bodies . -8th September Principal Secretary to Government Urban Local Bodies Dept Haryana Dear Sir, This is to bring to your immediate notice the illegal unauthorised dumping of Malba ( Construction & Demolition ) waste on the Aravali belt running adjacent to Gurgaon Faridabad road . Please find attached a video taken around 4 pm on 6th of Sep-14. The exact time & details along with GPS location may be submitted for your early investigation . The tractor trolley was seen offloading the C&D waste on the green belt in the most reckless manner and one can see the waste pickers quickly sifting through the dump to retrieve recyclable materials from this waste . Just a couple of yards away are signages from Haryana government which say its illegal to dump malba on this area . A photograph of which is also enclosed for your ready reference. As a concerned active citizens its is painful to see the natural environment , especially this Aravali belt which is under Aravalli notification 1992 , used as waste dumping grounds by C&D waste generators . The city is under rapid urbanisation and 70 % is yet to be developed as per master plan 2031 .....we need C&D waste management , handling & processing rules implemented at the earliest . Please do advise who is incharge of this area to keep it free from malba disposal ? Which civic department will enforce penalty and impose fines ? Who is supposed to keep vigil ? Attached are pictures of fresh disposal on either side of the green belt on this Gurgaon Faridabad road . I write this note to all civic departments , requesting for your collective joint action since I know if the matter is addressed to each department separately , we as Gurgaon citizens are always given the reply this area is not in our jurisdiction , beyond which we fail to get appropriate redressal .There are multiple civic agencies and I am sure one of the goals of all agencies and civic administration must be to protect the natural forest from destruction and issue notification to builders and land owning agencies to dispose malba in designated areas for further processing . We do know even the current 4 C&D dumping designated areas by MCG are not functional and have not been notified to builders , contractors nor concerned civic agencies . Sirs how do we protect and implement law ? We have invested our lifes earnings in building our homes in Gurgaon and also share the belief as envisaged by the Chief Minister for Gurgaon to be a Millennium city but this seems to be a distant wishful thought as neither the City seems to have integrated plans for management of civic needs nor a sustainable model for development and healthy living conditions . If Cities are to survive they cannot grow by local destruction of these very Eco systems . Sirs this is a wake up call , please rise to the occasion and give citizens and future generations of Gurgaon , clean heathy surroundings by strengthening and strictly enforcing waste ( MSW& C&D ) disposal policies for protecting the environment . Thank you Best regards
