Dear Friends, spare a few moments to read the following story. you time will not be wasted. if you feel like, share it on your walls to spread the word. The electrician, Ataa Butt, lived next door and was always a pleasant, lively personality. On a regular week day, if not in his workshop, he could be seen driving his vespa, carrying grocery bags or dropping his 7 years old son Shahid and 5 years old daughter Maham to school. On weekends, he would be found fixing some neighbour’s faulty airconditioner or refridgerator…that was if he was not taking the chubby, pampered Mrs. Butt to his in laws. ‘Joroo ka Ghulam’ was the common compliment by neighborhood aunties which he always received with a polite smile. Last night, this polite, lively man was poisoned to death. Call it coincidence or fate, Ataa Butt witnessed the scene when hooligans of an influential officer stole the transformer from the garage of his office where he used to work. The case was filed for the missing transformer and that honest man agreed to testify as a witness. The case was to be presented in court a week after Eid. Ataa Butt took his family for eid shopping on 27th of Ramzan, 6th August, 2013. He got his family new dress and the accessories. Later, he went for the night shift where he was given a poisonous cold drink by his fellow colleague. He took his last breath 2 hours later. His last message to his grief stricken wife was, “meray peechay enquiry na krwana, apni fikr krna, kahin tm log bhi na phans jao. Allah malik” Trans: “Forget investigation. Just save your lives and don’t get involved into it. God be your savior.” The poor man finally learnt his lesson. Before you raise your voice to claim justice, the voice is strangled here. Those who want to side by truth are left crippled and paralyzed if not dead. The songs of freedom and justice have gone expired. The message today is ‘Forget Justice…Save Yourself.’ Shahid and Maham who are not yet mature to grasp the whole reality are asking their stricken mother one question, “Abu was a good man, wasn’t he? Why would they kill him?” Their mother has no answer…and she has her own questions. The electrician, Ataa Butt, who lived next door, is dead.
