Dear Fun & Chit Chat Community VOKRA would like to inform the members of this group that we will be deleting the VOKRA Fun & Chit Chat Group on November 30th, 2014. Never fear! The community will have a new home! We have created a new group, the Cat Lovers Fun & Chit Chat Group, and invite all of you to join that group instead. https://facebook/groups/598270746968560/ You will notice that the difference in these two groups is the exclusion of VOKRAs name. We want to make clear that this does not represent a lack of involvement or support on VOKRAs behalf, simply that we will no longer be responsible for the group. This group was started as a place for our fosters and volunteers to post fun cat items and engage in cat chit chat without clogging up our foster and volunteer group feeds. We all love a little fun and chit chat! But we found that important messages were getting missed and focus was being distracted so we decided to create a specific place for the lighter stuff. As the group grew (currently 766 members!), it took on a variety of purposes for a variety of people and the original purpose of the group was not always achievable. Nothing wrong with that, it just became something different. Also, due to the size of the group and the passionate nature of the membership, there became an increased need for moderation in the group. VOKRA has acknowledged that we simply do not have the volunteer resources to moderate a group bearing our name in the way that this group requires. We are a volunteer-run organization that is constantly scrambling to keep up so we need to apply our resources carefully. While we love the value that social media offers, we already have several social media channels our volunteers need to moderate. We cannot have a group under VOKRAs name that publicly represents our organization that we cannot moderate adequately. We had hoped to leave the group as is and simply remove VOKRAs name but, unfortunately, Facebook does not let you change a groups name if there are more than 250 members. So we need to delete the group instead. But as we value this community and want to see it continue, we have started an alternate group. Please feel free to join the new group and invite your friends to do so too. We are looking for people interested in becoming Admins of the new group. If you have the time and the inclination to help keep the new group running smoothly, please let us know. We will continue to be engaged in this community and keep you up to date on VOKRA happenings.
