Dear Governor Haslam, I am writing to acknowledge you, sir, for taking a strong, principled stand on behalf of the people of Tennessee. Tomorrow is the big day, when the Affordable Care Act goes into effect and Tennessee will not participate in it. I applaud you for refusing to accept the $2.8 million dollars/per DAY that the federal government was offering to cover 100% of the costs. I am most proud at your firm stand to ensure that some 525,000 Tennesseans who would have then had access to affordable coverage will not. Certainly it was an easy decision given that the bulk of the state’s legislators, members of your own party wanted what you want. They are to be acknowledged as well for demonstrating caring and compassion for the less fortunate during this challenging time. I stand with you to acknowledge, too, that the only reason they are not already insured is because they are themselves too cheap to buy insurance or too lazy to get a job that offers health insurance coverage. Man, you really showed them. I will remember you during the next election cycle and will be in the trenches for you to remind the state what a truly strong, caring leader you are. Sincerely, Joe Malgeri PS -- I think your strong stance will give us a competitive edge against states like KY and AR who have chosen to accept the monies and thereby cause companies looking to expand to shun them for, perhaps, being too progressive. Thank you, sir, once more.
