Dear HR friends. Wal Mart in the US employs millions of people. According to my research it is the largest non-govenment employer in the world. For my Qatar based friends, there are more employees of Wal Mart than combined expat and local population of Qatar. The company has managed in recent years to find very innovative ways to save money, many of which are HR policies that hurt the employee. They have a sick leave policy that says an employee will not be paid for their first day of sick leave and will only be paid on the second day. How is this possible or legal?
