Dear Hays High School parents, we have had several of you contact us about information on social media and other conversations you have had. We just sent the following email to all parents at the campus and will have more for you tomorrow: Dear Hays High School Parents, Please pardon the early morning message; however, we want you to know that we informed the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday night about information we received. A student reported to us overhearing another student say he might bring a gun to school. The school district and law enforcement take these reports seriously and have to investigate whether there is a credible threat. Our hope is that this is just a rumor or misunderstanding, but our plan is to do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of the campus. We will report to you the findings of the investigation tomorrow after we are updated from law enforcement officers. For your morning scheduling purposes, we do not anticipate this will affect school operations on Thursday. If law enforcement officers determine there is a credible threat, they will take necessary action.
