Dear Hip Hop Community, We are informing you today we have met with reps from TPT, MPR, and The Current. The meeting was full of the spirit of collaboration and we are happy to report that the media outlets are open and willing to work with the Hip Hop community as a whole. The funds that were allocated to the State of Hip Hop event have expired due to the end of the fiscal year at the end of this month. This has been a valuable learning lesson for all parties – for us, it has helped to mobilize and organize our community- for them, it has shown how to engage communities that have historically and traditionally been left out of the process. The next step is an exploratory committee to discuss what forms and possibilities our collaborations can take. The meeting will be open to the Hip Hop community but contingent on the condition that participants attend a pre-meeting. We look forward to the future and promise to stay accountable to all parties involved. The media outlets have embraced the role of ally as a partner and megaphone for the Hip Hop community.
