Dear Hon Sam Kutesa, I am very sorry for taking long in - TopicsExpress

Dear Hon Sam Kutesa, I am very sorry for taking long in congratulating you for taking up such a big responsibility at the United Nations and yes, being a Ugandan makes it better. Being the President of the 69th session of the United Nations general assembly in New York instantly gives you access to the most powerful leaders, media etc. Hon, that post makes you our biggest flag bearer as uganda out there for one year. Uganda needs every important position in the world and my assumption is through those positions Ugandas story will be told to enhance opportunities for common folk. Ugandans like most Africans have failed to tell their stories and since nature hates a vacuum, our stories have been told in a way that doesnt bring opportunities to the continent and instead attracts Aid which has clearly failed Africa. No country in the world has developed by being a recipient of Aid because the fact is that Aid comes with conditions that keep the receiver focused on wrong the priorities and additionally kills the essence of life which is dignity. Countries that have made it all over the world have developed by trading with one another, principally focusing on mutual benefit. Hon. Sam Kutesa, I have been asked by the Israeli government at the recommendation of Babson College, probably the best entrepreneur school in America, to speak at the entrepreneurs event taking place on the 3rd November at the UN Headquarters, New York . My focus will be the value of entrepreneurship in Africa through tourism and yes, I will be telling a Ugandan story, God willing something you can cross check with your colleagues at the UN. The Israeli Embassy in New York is arranging a few meetings for me with some business people in New York. While in New York I would like to catch up with you to mainly discuss the best way to use your position to enhance Ugandas image through tourism and probably have a kodak moment with you at your office before you take one at Great Lakes Safaris offices. In the last three weeks I have written to both the President of Uganda Mr. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the new Prime Minister Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda. I congratulated the President for turning 70 and Hon. Rukunda for his new mandate in cabinet as Prime Minister and yes, I didnt leave out the subject I love and that is tourism. I know the President believes in agriculture, manufacturing and oil. My take is that no country in the world has developed by having 80% of its agriculture in the hands of peasant farmers and as for oil, we are expecting to earn 3.6 billion dollars annually for 25 years, which is a very small figure compared to what tourism can potentially bring to Uganda. I gave an example of Dubai, whose wealth was carried on donkeys till the 1950s, very hot but attracts up to 50 million tourists and if each tourists spends a minimum of say 1000 dollars then they earn 50 billion dollars annually. As for manufacturing, we have been trying for the last 50 years and we truthfully cant compete with the likes of China, India, Korea, Malaysia etc. I hopeful in meeting them both soon for further discussions on the same. I know that it would take me longer to reach you if I used the usual bureaucratic ways of communication and that why I am using an open forum and yes, I am well connected through my social media friends who will make sure you get this message as soon as possible. I would hate to be one of those people who regret not taking the opportunity to get in touch when the opportunity presented itself, which is why write to you now. Hon Asuman Kiyingi hope u can pass on this message Asante sana
