Dear Honda: Tonight a semi pushed my the car my son was driving - TopicsExpress

Dear Honda: Tonight a semi pushed my the car my son was driving into a Jersey barrier. The back wheel of the trailer came up over the hood of his car and crushed the roof. That tire was less than six inches from his head. The truck ripped off the front drivers side tire and drum leaving the springs and the frame clearly visible. The outer wall of the drivers door was peeled off and every window broke, some inches from his face. The turn signal was bent around the steering wheel. And on the passenger side of the car, the rear view mirror is now embedded in the car door. And my sweet baby has not a scratch on him. The reason that my family is not devastated by grief right now is that you made a safe car. You designed it to absorb the energy and save the passenger. You get it: Lives matter so kuch more than property. I was in an accident 18 years ago. I broke nearly every bone on the right side of my body and sustained a serious brain injury. I have lost count of how many surgeries I have had to correct the damage done. The latest was a total knee replacement in April. My sons accident was every bit as serious. But a side airbag protected his head. Your design protected the rest of him. I want to extend my thanks to the engineers who used their intelligence and skill to create a car that safe, to the crash test dummies who have died a thousand horrible deaths and to your executives who did not scrimp on safety. Thank you, Honda.
