Dear Humane Society Friend: (Please share this with other like minded animal friendly folks! :) In the last 7 years the Charlevoix Area Humane society has come light years in saving animals in Charlevoix County. The adoption rate has increased dramatically, in 2006 we had only a 46% adoption/re-homing rate, in 2013 we have rate of 86% and for a few years in the recent past we were as high as 95.5%! We are very proud for all practical purposes to have become a “NO KILL” facility. This is amazing progress! With your help, every animal that comes through our doors is saved, cared for, given medical attention, spayed or neutered and sheltered until we find him or her, a new home! The only animals that are euthanized at the CAHS are ones that are too vicious and unsafe for adoption, or are beyond medical help and need to be humanely put down to end their suffering. Serving the entire County of Charlevoix, the Humane Society struggles every year to raise enough funds to support our cause. In the past we have done this through small fundraisers, some grants, annual appeals and solicitations. The board, staff, and volunteers work hard to raise every nickel. Becoming a “NO KILL” facility has made it more expensive to maintain a long term care shelter and we need your help more than ever. The Charlevoix Area Humane Society is an independent nonprofit 501c3 organization; we depend totally upon the generosity of caring individuals to help us carry out our shared mission, which is “To practice and promote the principle that every life is precious. As such, we are committed to the highest principles of humane care and professional treatment of injured, ill, neglected or abused animals”.
