Dear JEDLAB: Big news: I’m moving to a new job at a global innovation and design consultancy called Continuum (see below). I am tremendously excited about this. Ever since I read The Sorcerers and Their Apprentices and said, “Hey: The people in this book are like the cool, creative people on I know from Twitter!”-- I’ve been trying to foster creativity (foster? Encourage! Incite!) in Jewish education. The time has come to join the creativity business. Problem is... the new gig means that I won’t be hanging with you--learning from you, arguing with you, listening to you--except after work hours. I say this with real sadness. The daily, sometimes moment-by-moment back-and-forth of JEDLAB has meant an enormous amount to me--ever since Yechiel and I started it, way back in the day, during an early morning conversation at the North American Jewish Day School Conference forward/articles/182585/could-a-facebook-group-provide-a-new-model-for-jew/?p=all. This network has been my Jewish community, the one I have felt closest to and most deeply engaged in, in my entire life. I’ve developed so many valuable friendships here and learned so much and met such a great variety of lively and intense Jewish ed people--most of whom I never (ever ever) would have known any other way. TR, my friends--and Gut Shabbes. --K.
