Dear Jennings Staff and Families, It certainly saddens us that - TopicsExpress

Dear Jennings Staff and Families, It certainly saddens us that there is continued unrest in Ferguson. While the incidents were contained in Ferguson, out of an abundance of caution in regards to traffic flow for students walking to school, we will assess matters an additional day and we will use Tuesday as a staff development day for staff to prepare for students on Wednesday. Therefore school will be closed for students today, August 19, 2014. Staff members are on a delayed 8AM start. There have not been incidents this weekend or this week in Jennings and we are proud of the peace that’s been maintained in our own school community. Fortunately all of our schools are located within walking distance in the middle of each neighborhood. As a result, any student that needs access to lunch at the school closest to them or any family that needs access to mental health services, may access those services 12PM-1:00PM today at the school closest to their residence. Families can make an appointment for mental health service needs by calling the school. As needed, in special situations, food deliveries can also be made by contacting the school office. We greatly appreciate the calls from residents to volunteer at our schools. Schools can provide ways community members can volunteer as we continue to keep our community a peaceful strong community. This month is being considered as a time of service to our Jennings community and various projects will be supported. Principals and counselors can address all inquiries directly. Thank you for your continued understanding and support. We do hope to welcome back our students for the second week of school on Wednesday, August 20th.
