Dear Jerry, Thank you for contacting your Florida lawmaker and demanding a solution to the state’s uninsured problem. There are still ways Florida can cover the uninsured, but lawmakers have to be open to new solutions – and they have to hear from constituents who want them to do their jobs. Please forward this message to friends and family so they can join you in taking action. =====FORWARD THIS MESSAGE===== Despite months of debate and compromise offers, lawmakers have left Tallahassee without expanding basic health coverage to more than a million struggling families and low-income workers. Even though the Feds would have covered 90 percent of the cost. Even though it means losing 65,000 new jobs. Even though Red and Blue states across the nation did so. And guess who gets left holding the bag? Us. For those of us with health insurance, our rates will likely keep going up to cover the cost of the uninsured. Same with our local property taxes. And don’t forget those long waits in hospital ERs. They’ll just keep getting longer. I just sent an email to my Florida state legislator to let them know how I feel about this failure to act, and demanding that lawmakers do their job and find a solution to the uninsured problem. You can join me by going to Consumers Union’s website to send your own email. It’s quick, easy and is important for those of us in Florida.
