Dear Jett You were a smart kid, a quiet teenager and a fine young man. You loved your Adelaide Crows and would love to chat about the AFL with me. I remember live streaming the Adelaide vs. West Coast game on my laptop on a Saturday afternoon so we could watch the game when we were meant to be training haha. You could make your eyeballs shake (still the weirdest thing I have ever seen). You were kind, well mannered and a great student. I remember when you were 5. I selected you to join my boys development group. You ended up training with me for 10 years (approx 4500 hours together in the gym) You were always full of energy and enthusiasm. You were a skinny, scrawny, tiny child with a large head. This often made learning new skills hard but you had the determination to make up for it. Always working away harder than anyone else and always ready for the next instruction. You could do more dips than kids twice your age. I remember having to make you repeat level 4 because you were too small to do the Level 5 Pbar routine lol. This did not dampen your spirits; it only drove you to want to succeed more. I believe you went on to dominate Level 4 that year and then carried on to do well at Level 5 and 6. Although you stopped competing around age 12/13 you continued to train and learn new skills and you were a great role model for the younger boys coming through. Around this time you also started buddy coaching with me. When I left High Flyers you were turning into a young man. Not training anymore but still always in the gym coaching. Gymnastics is not just a sport, it’s a lifestyle. Last month was your 17th Birthday and I posted on Facebook that I was looking forward to having a beer with you next year on your 18th. I have had a few today in your honour and I look forward to having a beer with you when I cross over to the other side. Rest In Peace champ xxx Love your Coach, James
