Dear Joe, my first born son...& the love of my life. I didnt even know what love was until the first time I held you in my arms. I remember the first night we had together at the hospital & the promise I made while looking into your eyes. I have never forgotten what it felt like to be a new mom, I was terrified in that moment. i felt alone & ill-prepared. I was so Terrified of letting you down. terrified that I wouldnt have all the right answers. You taught me well...you eased me into parenthood. I embraced every moment we had together, i cherished your firsts, and reveled in your accomplishments. I am so proud of you. Hearing your teachers talk about how kind you are, how you go out of your way to include others, the day you broke up that fight on the play ground when a kid was being bullied....at first it scared me that you could have gotten hurt. But..I am so so proud. Your honesty & integrity inspire me. I dont know any other kids your age that push themselves the way that you do. That make workout schedules (to get to 10,000 of conditioning in before college), that look forward to football practice in 100+ degree weather, who beg for their mom to take them to the outdoor basketball courts in the pouring rain, who strive for all As their entire academic career. You are so smart. So beautiful. So wonderfully driven. And have a heart of gold. I love how you put your arm around your sister & walk her into school each day. you are a extraordinary big brother. We are so lucky to have you in our family. God has blessed us all. Joejoe...i promise..I will help you accomplish all of your dreams. I will love you & support you every step of the way. Regardless of how many times I mess up..that I continue to get better & better. So that you continue to get better & better as well. My advice: stay focused on your dreams & accomplishing your goals. Continue growing your character, your compassion for others, stay sensitive to wrongs of the world...but dont let it bring you down. Be a serious student. A serious athlete. Listen to your teachers & your coaches. Be a good friend. Talk to God every day. Thank him for your health. Smile. Enjoy life. Surround yourself with good. Drink plenty of water. Open the door for ladies. Say please & thank you. Work as hard as you can at everything you do. Remember family first. Come to Mom & Dad with any big or small. Happy 10th birthday, baby boy!!! It is a pleasure being your mom. Ill love you forever. I like you always. As long as I am living..my baby youll be.
