Dear Lady Gaga, My name is Matthew, Im 18, from Detroit, been a fan since the Fame Monster, and am really hoping you see this honestly lol. Im a musician, started playing guitar when I was 12, shortly after my mom died of lung cancer, influenced by mainly classic rock, but kept an open mind. You and Michael Jackson were what hooked me on Pop music. And after the ten months we watched my mom fade away, lose her hair and the cancer spread to her brain bone and liver, we lost her on June 24th 2008, she was 48, I was 12. I was still living with my dad who was and is still unemployed, and you were one of the artists I listened to most up to this point still, your music, your voice and the love, spirit, and hope you spread everywhere you go helped me keep a better attitude every day and has truly made an impact on my life. I saw your show at Joe Louis Arena back in May which was fantastic, everything from the set list, to the light show, the dancing, the mix, and especially that little breakdown after Do what U Want that you and your incredible band improvised, that was too perfect, I watch the video a lot still. Speaking of improvised, Im sure you are wondering what the video is attached to this. During the time I was getting geared up to go to your show, I was also getting ready to put on one of the biggest shows I have ever done. A friend and me composed an instrumental track that has flares of rock, jazz, and acoustic flavor, and I do improvised lead over it. It doesnt have a name, but this was the best take I ever did of it, please excuse how the video tilts on the side durning the later half, my aunt who recorded this (and also took my cousin and I to your show) turned her phone on its side while recording lol, the cool thing is the day I performed this just down the street from where I lived, you were performing at The Garden, so its cool we were both playing in our home towns that night. This past summer has been another genuinely hard one, both my parents smoked cigarettes and drank, and my dad in the midst of a severe addiction got into some trouble and I had to relocate to my grandmas house, it was not an easy thing, but hes better now, I just am not living with him, but still in my anxieties and depression about these hardships, I just let your music work its magic and put me in a better place. But anyway, on another note, I just bought Cheek To Cheek, the day it came out, on CD, I put it in as soon as I got in the car and was in awe. I think its a masterpiece, you and Tony make an excellent pair, I could go on and on about it, but in a nutshell, the different instruments came together in such harmony with your voice, especially in songs like Nature Boy, my friend heard it not even knowing who it was and right after that intro, he was like thats f****** beautiful! My grandma heard the title track and said Thats just how they used to sing them too. From one musician to another though I hope your having a blast on your tour right now, I cannot wait to see you back in the Rock City, Detroit misses you, hope to see you soon! From, Matthew Reeber
