Dear Lord, how much I appreciate Your viewpoint regarding human status and abilities, failures and weaknesses. Im so glad that You, the highly exalted One, are not impressed with the positions people hold... that You are not in the least bit partial or prejudice, that You show no personal favoritism. Thank You that You have no regard for any external distinctions, for rich or poor, for famous for unknown, for high rank or low, for handsome or homely, for any race or culture above any other... but that You do have regard for all those who are humble in heart. Thank You that You are not looking for ideal people with imposing list of human qualifications, but that You use people who the world calls foolish and weak, poor and insignificant. Thank You that You oppose those who exalt themselves, and that You exhaust all those who humble themselves, giving them Your grace. How glad I am that You dont expect perfect performance but that You are quick to mark every simple effort I make to please You and just as quick to overlook the imperfections when I meant to do Your will. You are full of mercy and compassion towards me, and all of my brothers and sisters of Your Holy family. You know the way I am put together, You know my limitations, and You understand that I am dust. Lord, I praise You that You are greater than all of my failures and limitations, that as my Potter You are able to mold and remold me as I submit to Your wisdom and skill... that as the Master Artist You are able to take the dark threads of my life -my wounds, my scars, my blotches, the messes I make, and even my sin - and blend them into the beautiful design to the praise and the glory of Your name. Thank You that I, a common earthenware jug, contain the priceless treasure of Your life and glory and so my every victory and accomplishment obviously comes from Your all prevailing power and not for me. Thank You that through the trials, though now for a little bit I may have to suffer some grief and pain, You are refining me finer than gold which passes through fire, that your burning up every part of me that is not of You and thank You that this process is for Your glory. Lord I thank You for the people in my life and the lives of my loved ones who build us up, strengthen us, encourage us, and have helped us through struggles in the past. These people are true blessings and I pray that they would remain in our lives to help us through what we are currently going through now. Help each of the people in my life be a light for you in this world, so that You may be praised through the love and compassion and forgiveness we show others! Amen
