Dear MOPANers - Have you heard that cliché leaving money on - TopicsExpress

Dear MOPANers - Have you heard that cliché leaving money on the table? Assuming you have, you may be leaving money on the table if you are a production professional that has always wondered who gets the contracts for State of Oregon funded video productions, training films, PSAs, etc. And you may be leaving money on the table if you are unaware of the Oregon Foundations that providing grant funding in a wide array of interest areas, that just might fit the topic of your production. The process of registering to see the State Requests for Proposals and responding to them is not rocket science and MOPAN would like to de-mystify the process for you. The City of Eugene is a OMPA-MOPAN member and is willing to pay for the professional presentation by a person who is a registered agent in the States bidding registry and will walk you through the process. Our guest presenter is also a grant writers and will distribute a point-in-time list of Oregon foundations and respond to Q and A. This session is planned for September 18, 2014 at 7pm (6:30pm social) at the Gateway Travel Lane County Center next to Best Buy. However, this session cannot be hosted by the City if there is not a critical mass of MOPANers confirming they plan to attend. Therefore, if you wish to attend this session, please RSVP your YES to me no later than Wednesday September 10th and the names of anyone else coming with you and we will confirm by September 11th if the session will be held. Thank you -Jeff Johnston Special Note - you are receiving this email because at some point in the past you indicated you were interested in the work of MOPAN, whether you are a OMPA member or an Advocate. As you know, last year MOPAN made the transition to become a formal Mid-Oregon regional chapter of OMPA [www,ompa.org], an organization whose mission is to support media production professionals in networking, training, and locating work. And the results have been very successful as far as I can tell. However, everyone on this MOPAN email list has been invited to every MOPAN mtg but only a small percentage of the large email list has attended a MOPAN mtg or provided feedback about MOPAN matters. Continuing Facebook and email list maintenance is not time or cost effective. Being a regional Chapter of a larger support organization like OMPA has great benefits, and I agreed to serve as President for one year. That year is up and I am interested in hearing from OMPA members who might wish to serve as President. If I do not receive affirmative replies from Interested OMPA members by Sept 30 for a leadership position, I will recommend to the OMPA board that the Eugene-centric aspect of MOPAN be temporarily mothballed. Well still announce monthly social gatherings but they will be strictly informal. We will remain a chapter of OMPA so producers using the OMPA search engine can search MOPAN and locate crew specifically in this area. OMPA members wishing to share information will need to use the OMPA listserv but the MOPAN email list will be shelved for now as a means of group communication by MOPAN interested parties. All MOPAN-OMPA members will retain full OMPA benefits. I regret if it comes to that but it has been a pleasure to serve during this transition and giving the local MOPAN group a rest while we regroup may be a natural progression as professionals find other ways to network and locate work. Thank you.
