Dear Madih sb, Hundreds of additional causes for division of India can be enumerated along with yours, which is well known Marxist view. Suffice to remind u that even the Communist /Marxist/Socialist lands of USSR and China have abandoned socialist economic system and embraced Western democracy and Capitalism( China is also on verge of adopting democracy). But my point was that Pakistan was not asked as a homeland for Muslims ,rather Lahore Resolution (March 1940) only asked for formation of sovereign and independent states comprising Muslim majority areas in the Eastern and Western parts of India ,contrary to the generally held view both by Muslims and Hindus that Indian Muslims got their share in the form of Pakistan. It also asked for equal rights for respective minorities in Hindu and Muslim majority states. Few years ago Mr.VN Roy,IG(ret), writer of famous book SHAHER MEIN CURFEW during his lecture in the staff club said the same thing and taking high moral ground claimed that despite Pakistan being made in the name of Islam,India was declared a secular state. During the discussion I asked him that if anybody can prove that Pakistan was created for Muslims then I will say that Muslims have no right in India as they got their share. The statement: The Lahore resolution was actually adopted on March 24, but officially in Pakistan March 23 is considered the date of its adoption. In 1941, it became part of the Muslim Leagues constitution. The statement declared: No constitutional plan would be workable or acceptable to the Muslims unless geographical contiguous units are demarcated into regions which should be so constituted with such territorial readjustments as may be necessary.[17] Additionally, it stated: That adequate, effective and mandatory safeguards shall be specifically provided in the constitution for minorities in the units and in the regions for the protection of their religious, cultural, economic, political, administrative and other rights of the minorities. The resolution is also available in the famous book PARTITION OF INDIA:LEGEND ANR REALITY by H M Seervai. Nobody can understand full causes of the division unless he goes through this book.
