Dear Matt, We hope you enjoy reading the latest addition of the Animal Welfare League NSW enews. Bushfire update The last few weeks has been a very dark time for many communities battling the hundreds of fires across our state. Thankfully, amongst the darkness there is a light with thousands of Australians banding together to help people and animals affected by the fires – it’s truly inspiring. We wanted to update you on some of the great work our Inspectors, Vets, staff and volunteers have been up to over the last week. Our team has been based at the North Richmond evacuation centre assisting the community with injured and displaced animals. Visit our facebook page to view photos from the field. We have provided emergency shelter and care for cats, dogs, horses, birds, bunnies and much more. As well as working collaboratively with other rescue groups and corporates to reach as many animals in need as possible. We would like to thank all of the kind people who donated goods and financial gifts. A special thanks to the amazing companies that also donated gifts and services! Our hearts go out to all of the families and animals affected by the fires. Click here for more information on the bushfire efforts. Max Adopted Darling Max had been in our care for over a year. He is such a friendly and bouncy boy. Max required an experienced owner who would give him lots of exercise and park fun. Max patiently waited week after week, month after month while his other doggy friends were being adopted. We knew that one day soon a perfect family would come along and adopt him. And then, last month it happened! His new mum, Kirsten tells us he is settling in perfectly and they adore him. Max’s training is going really well and he has learnt to sit, lie down, stay and come. Not long after adopting Max, his new family adopted a little sister for him named Pippin. “Pippin is a Maltese - Shih Tzu - Mini Foxy cross, and even though she is diminutive in size, she has wrapped Max completely around her paw” says Kirsten. What a cute couple! Click here to meet some of our beautiful pets currently looking for a home.
