Dear Melissa, Jehovah God did mean for his people to be self sufficient , dependable , responsible and confident. They could have confidence as God can not lie Titus 1:2 , God was dependable as he had never let Jesus down when he did his fathers will ,and would not lets us down either , dependable yes, , prophecy showed even if 450 years had passed the prophecy would be fulfilled right on time . Turn to 1 Timothy 6:6,7,8 “To be sure, it is a means of great gain ,[this] godly devotion along with self- sufficiency . For we have brought nothing into the world ,and neither can we carry anything out. So , having sustenance and covering, we shall be content with these things”. God would provide what ever they would need and what they were to say, he would by the Holy Spirit would recall how or what to say. And where they would stay the night , Jesus said if they would be his followers, Jehovah would provide as any good Father provides for his children. And he did . 2 Corinthians 9:8,-14 “God, moreover, is able to make all his undeserved kindness abound toward YOU, that, while YOU always have full self-sufficiency in everything, YOU may have plenty for every good work. 9 (Just as it is written: “He has distributed widely, he has given to the poor ones, his righteousness continues forever.” 10 Now he that abundantly supplies seed to the sower and bread for eating will supply and multiply the seed for YOU to sow and will increase the products of YOUR righteousness.) 11 In everything YOU are being enriched for every sort of generosity, which produces through us an expression of thanks to God; 12 because the ministry of this public service is not only to supply abundantly the wants of the holy ones but also to be rich with many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Through the proof that this ministry gives, they glorify God because YOU are submissive to the good news about the Christ, as YOU publicly declare YOU are, and because YOU are generous in YOUR contribution to them and to all; 14 and with supplication for YOU they long for YOU because of the surpassing undeserved kindness of God upon YOU.” It is great to have confidence in our wonderful God Jehovah
