Dear Member, I am very pleased to be able to report positive - TopicsExpress

Dear Member, I am very pleased to be able to report positive progress with the pavilion project. Following valiant work by members of the sub-committee they were able to make a recommendation of a preferred bid and project plan, which was endorsed by a majority at yesterdays committee meeting. Clearly there will be some disruption to normal service, but every effort is being made to minimise this and to allow tennis to continue unimpeded as much as possible. A temporary building will be put in place to provide limited shelter and storage of essential equipment. Further details regarding security and access will be sent out as available. The contract has been awarded to Club member Paul Carne, who plans to start on Monday 8th December 2014. Initial activities commencing from this date will entail the current pavilion being dismantled and removed from site. The pavilion area will become out of bounds to all members and the public and will be fenced off for health and safety reasons. The tennis court lights will be housed in a temporary structure for the duration of the works. Temporary footpaths will be installed for the duration of the works. There should not be any disruption to daylight or floodlit tennis sessions during the works. The work is expected to take approximately 10 weeks from the 8th December, which should hopefully mean that we will have a new pavilion facility ready by early spring 2015. My thanks to everyone who has helped to move the project to this stage, and to you all in advance for your understanding during the transition. Im sure it will all have been worth the wait. Finally, as I a sending this from South Africa and wont be home till Jan 14th, may I take the opportunity of wishing you a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2015. Digby
