Dear Members, Parents, Supporters, Users & Friends, Daventry Phoenix Gymnastics Club alongside the Phoenix Youth Centre has exciting Plans to upgrade the whole Centre including the Gymnastics Hall. The additional extension on the current Gymnastics Hall will allow for additional Trampolines, Pitted Area, access and activities for people with Disabilities. The actual plans are now on show at the Centre in the gym foyer area for you to look at. Marie Bannigan (Director of Gymnastics) will be more than happy to explain things further when you are next at the Centre. We have already secured £125,000 of funding from Daventry District Council, and are close to securing £500,000 of funding from Sports England. We have been offered a considerable amount of gap funding by Landform Estates as part of the community benefits which will come from the Mickle well Park housing development in Daventry. This funding is dependent on planning permission for the Mickle Well Park being granted. The planning application reference is DA/2014/0869 There are other important benefits to our community which will happen if the Mickle Well Park Development goes ahead, including a school, allotments, enhancement to the canal pathways, enhancement to Fonsill Wood and also an area close to the development which is used by the local scouts for outdoor activities. Space for a community hub including Doctors / dentist surgery will also be provided. This development will be able to deliver a varied range of housing quickly, to help address the current shortage of housing locally. The impact of the enhancement of the Phoenix on the young people of the Daventry District will be significant with the additional space and amenities planed.
