Muhammad Muhammad Waqasresident POS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Minutes of Meeting Pakistan Optometric Society Pakistan Optometric Society Meeting was held on 20th Sep 2013, in PICO Peshawar for the tribute and memories of our senior Optometrist Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad who passed away in the month of Ramdan with a sad incidence. The main Agenda of the meeting was to pay tribute to the services Mr. Mukhtar extended to Optometry profession and particularly POS. TAZIATI reference in Memory of Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad:- • After the opening remarks of Mr. Kashif , Qari Shakeel (optometrist) recited the Holy Quran. • Mr. Jamil presented a presentation on the life & achievements of Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad. • Mr. Kashif address in remembrance of Mr. Mukhtar. • Mr. Ali Minto address in remembrance of Mr. Mukhtar. • Dua for Mr. Mukhtar was offered by all participants for his eternal piece and condolence with his family Other Points of Meetings:- 1. Optometry Institution development in private Sectors:- • A private college PEF in Peshawar has started 5 years OD program in Optometry, in affiliation with Bacha Khan University. Mr. Arshad Bangash has joined the factuality , and Mr. Arshad Bangash is been asked By the POS to make sure that optometrist trained in PEF college should get appropriate training and academics. POS will help the factuality of PEF college to improve the standards of optometric education in the region also a bridging program 3 years & 4 years graduate s to be accommodated in the PEF collage. 2. Optometrist Nomenclature Recognition Update :- • Nomenclature of Optometrist to be approved , an application is been forwarded by Optometrists of HMC from the office of Dr. Nasir Saeed, this application is with ministry of health a committee is formed to peruse on the matter. Task Committee to peruse all the concern matters are:- 1. Mr. Ayaz Muhammad Khan ( chairman) 2. Mr. Fahim Marwat 3. Mr. Javed Hassan 4. Mr. Jamil Ahmad The committee formed above will also hold meeting with health minister KP & other MPA with the assistance of Mr. Kashif Khan on the formation of Council Of Optometry. The above committee will also work on 11th October World Sight Day functions and activities under the POS chapter and will propose activities soon. 3. POS Annual Conference:- After world sight day the Task Committee will work on arranging 3rd Annual scientific conference of optometry. Mr. Muhammad Kashif and other KPK optometrists were of strong opinion in holding the 3rd scientific conference of Optometry in Peshawar this year. It was principally agreed that the situation may be analyzed for the Annual conference organization in Peshawar and recommendation and plan be discussed in next meeting which will be planned soon and date will be communicated to its all members. 4. Elections of POS:- It was also proposed by Ali Minto, that the pending elections of POS will also be sorted out at the soonest to elect the new body of Pakistan optometrist Society may be formed as per By laws and rules of POS.
