Dear Mom, I wrote something for Scout that I thought you would - TopicsExpress

Dear Mom, I wrote something for Scout that I thought you would enjoy. Please take turns walking Scout with you Alex, Aunt Gertrude Scout joined our family 15 years ago. He was a well-planned addition to our home. After much encouragement from the children we decided to get a Cairn terrier, which is a hypoallergenic breed selected because of my allergy to dogs. We all went to Pandys puppies and David was the one who picked out Scout. There was a special look in his eyes that caught our attention. Scout immediately bonded with Margaret failing asleep on her lap during his first day at our home and being warmly held by her and our family on his last day on Friday, November 29 when we said our last goodbye. We all know Scout was his mommys dog and he would follow her day and night and make mighty howls when he thought she was gone. Julianne won a special place in Scouts heart and watched over him every day over the last twelve months as his health declined. Scout had a special place in his heart for each member of our family and for every person and dog that he met. On our regular walks in the park Scout would greet old friends while making new friends. When I would come home from work Scout would give me a warm greeting and then dash for a ball that I was to throw over his lifetime thousands of times. He and I were jogging buddies and would run three miles every morning at 5:30AM for many years. Scout was so happy to see David that he would run in circles out of joy. Scout loved his Grandmother and would bolt out of the house whenever she visited. Grandma had a toy for Scout every day of his life every time they met. Scout was an avid student and graduated first in his class from the Matthew P. Hodges University for Tricks and Teases. Scout received his undergraduate in roll over, sit and holding his paw in 2002 and his graduate degree 2006 in the fine art of spatula induced growling. Scout traveled to the south of France in 2013 and we think was putting the finishing touches on his memoirs about his life on 37 Azalea Trail. What was so special about Scout and what we will dearly miss is his enthusiasm, his playfulness, the joy in which he greeted us whether we were gone for five minutes or five days. Scott gave us a full measure of joy and happiness and he will be with us forever. God bless our good friend Scout. Love Dan
