Dear Mom, Welcome to the sacred, coveted sorority of motherhood. Theres a few things you need to know: 1. It will get messy. 2. it may get ugly. 3. you will feel like youre losing your mind at times. However, all those things dont matter and fade away the moment you look down into your arms and see your beautiful child smiling back up at you. Theres a few rules.. well guidelines.. as well.. 1.) No one can make you feel inferior with out your consent. Im not going to lie to you, EVERYONE, is going to have an opinion about what you are doing, what you are not doing.. but the main thing is: YOU ARE THE PARENT.. not them 2.) Its okay to ask for help. At some point, youre going to get over whelmed, and you ARE going to need that extra help. put your pride aside and ask, no one can help if they dont know you need it.. At the same time 3.) its okay to deny help as well.. people are going to ask you left at right if you need anything (especially the first few days home) and some days, i know ive had a few, i just wanted to yell at every one to leave me alone so i can have alone time with my son.. politely decline.. put a sign on your door if you have to. 4.) this is in part to number 1. you know whats best for your child.. period.. YOU have the final say in what goes on in your childs life, as well as yours. if your gut is telling you that something is wrong.. by all means follow it. if something is telling you that something is off about someone you know.. FOLLOW YOUR GUT!!! 5.) Bring your partner in to help as much as they can. it will build a bond between them and your child that can not be broken. 6.) There is no right or wrong way to parent.. everyone does it differently I know being a mom is rough. Ive been there, the things I am telling you, I WISH someone had told me. you might not believe it, but I believe in you, and youll get the hang of it. I believe with my greatest love and respect, ~a fellow mom Share if you care!
