Dear Morgan Turnquist, It has been 11 months since you left us. - TopicsExpress

Dear Morgan Turnquist, It has been 11 months since you left us. I want you to continue to read my letters, so I will not whine anymore about how much you are missed. This is going to be a long one so relax on a cloud and read. Lots of things going on since I last wrote to you. I told you we were having a memorial benefit in your honor. It was awesome. We did great and had lots of help and lots of people. More than we ever expected. The benefit raised over $15,000.00 for Thursday’s Child. We were so happy. Remember how I told you that mom was working very hard to make this the best event possible. Well, she succeeded beyond anything we could have hoped or prayed for. Everything was perfect just like mom had to have it. We saw so many people that we had not seen in a long time. Mom and I could feel the love of all the people that were there. You and we are truly loved by so many. This makes us so happy and made all the work worthwhile. We saw people like some of your teachers from Eastside, Lakeside and ever Mr. and Mrs. Ehlke came. It was so nice to see so many of them. Aunt Heidi gave massages to make money for the event and grandma Turnquist brought a handmade quilt that was bought by the Clevensteins. Shelly Thompson bought an autographed Bo Ryan basketball and I think I heard that she gave it to her dad Mr. Ehlke. That was really cool. Remember when we ran into Bo at the hospital after surgery? He took one look at you and said “wow, your hair looks like Zach Morley’s.” Zach had wild hair and so did you after the surgery. We both laughed and went on our walk down the halls. Dr. Puccetti was there and so was Dr. Iskandars. Dr. Iskandars came over to talk to me and said, “I always knew you guys would do something like this.” He said that we all are such good people and was so happy to be able to attend. He way overpaid for an item just to raise money to remember you. It was special. Mrs. T decorated the windows with beautiful art for the event. Max and Eliot worked the candy area and made cotton candy and managed the sucker pull game that made a lot of money too. You should have seen Max, he was making the cotton candy and it was kinda not really in the best form as it attached to the stick. So he started patting the candy down and shaping it into a perfect oval. Don’t tell anyone and I hope his hands were clean. It was so funny . Lulu was there and brought some friends and Aunt Amy helped out with the event. Grandma and Dan were there and helped us get items for the event. I told you that the students at Eastside were doing a penny count war. I do not even know how the rules worked, but they raised a lot of money for your event. Many of the kids knew who you were. We had heard that some of the kids offered to do extra chores at home to get more money from their parents just to donate. Wow, how great is that! We bid on and won the autographed Carrie Underwood guitar. It is really cool and such an appropriate way for us to donate to Thursday’s Child and to have something that is so special to all of us. The live auction was awesome. Mike Ferris did a great job being the auctioneer. He came to the event even though he does not work for 96.3 anymore. He did not have to come, but he came very early and stayed for the entire event. He is really a special person who we will never forget. Abby, and Mike Conway and Chamonix worked so hard to make everything work out. Courtney Dorn was high bidder on the Blake Shelton Guitar and won the raffle for the Miranda Lambert guitar. She and her mom and dad was so excited. Kristen came over one day and asked to borrow a picture of you for a project that she was working on. It was kind of a secret. But when we found out what is was for we were so happy. Kirsten set up your senior picture in the foreground in focus and she was dressed in her graduation gown out of focus in the background. Not sure what she called it, but it was so special to us. They say a picture says a 1000 words. This one was truly one of those pictures. Plus it won best of show for the entire school. Graduation at Lakeside came and went and we were so sad that we did not get to see you walk down the aisle. We did not go to the ceremony, it was just too hard. We are invited to a ton of graduation parties for your friends and plan on attending as many as we can. Kristen had hers already and Jacob’s is today and Courtney’s is next weekend. We have soo many to go to, I can’t even hardly keep track of them all. Mom continues to work at Boston Store 2-3 times per week and seems to like it. Travis is home for the summer and is working hard on roofing for Mid Towne. He is getting more hours than he wants, but that is good. After all he is a poor college student. Simba is fine and all else is good. Expect that we miss you and love you and still cry about missing you. By the way, Pastor Mike said in your funeral sermon that he prayed that “See you again” by Carrie Underwood would be the biggest hit of the year. Well on Wednesday “See you again” was voted as best video of the year. Every time I hear that song, I cry. I remember you and I listening to it many times last year and while we never spoke about the lyrics, I am sure we both had many many thoughts running though our heads. Pastor Mike left Eastside to become the Pastor of a newer church in Appleton. Guess who we called to replace him? PC…Pastor Clark from Lakeside. I pray that God would guide him to us. He seems to be a perfect replacement. We will have to wait and see. I have attached many pictures to this one. One is of the banner for your event, one if of Courtney with her 2 guitars, one is of Kristen’s winning art piece and the last one is of the Carrie Underwood guitar that we bought. If you were here, you would be like no one is going to touch it. We will keep it safe until we see you again. I love you Morgan! Dad
