Dear Most People I know, and this isnt just the six, Im not kidding, six, people who said you dont like anything to me in the last week, I feel I need to point something out: For all that Im a fanboy, I dont like a lot of things, blind enthusiasm irritates me and a lot of what people insist to me is good fun I can kind of shrug off, because Im old. But I have enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy so far. I liked Guardians of the Galaxy, despite its kind corny ending, and I really like Terry Pratchett, and Spencer Tracy. I like most musicals. I liked Ranma 1/2, Pom Poko, Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle, I enjoyed Firefly the series, I liked Captain America: The First Avenger, I have loved every season of Downton Abbey so far, I like Harlan Ellison, Howard Waldrop and, God Help Me, Doug Lains philosophy bombs. I like John Valdezs comedy, I like Happy Gilmore, The Mask with JIm Carey (but not much else with Jim Carey), Get Smart (Carell movie and old Buck Henry series), Bela Lugosis Dracula, Anno Dracula by Kim Newman, Tim Powers and Umberto Eco. I enjoy local theatre, even when its awful, I like symphonies a lot better than operas and ballets better than symphonies. Although Marriage of Figaro is awesome and I really like the overture from Bruder Lustig, which is damn hard to find because I think Wagners kid might have been a Nazi. I hope not, but that operas elusive. Id like to see a remake of Fanfreluche almost as much as Id like them to STOP remaking the Tomorrow People. I like Red Dwarf right up until about Season 7, I think, the one before Kochanski. I resist a lot of things at first, with good reason, but the IT Crowd has been rewarding I liked Blakes 7, Papillon, Cool Hand Luke, Hombre, Leverage, True Grit (both versions), High Noon, High Plains Drifter and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence but I dont like Angel And The Bad Man or any John Wayne movie with the word Rio, Alamo or the name of a steak house in it. I like Monty Python but please stop quoting Holy Grail. Please. I liked NCIS when Zeva was on it, but not before or after, I like Miss Marple better than Hercule Poirot, I like Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammett about the same. I can take Steinbeck or leave him and I cant stand Thomas Hardy. I like Grant Morrison better than Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman and I like Keith Giffen better than all of them and I adore Linda Medleys Artwork, I liked Bone by Jeff Smith and tend to like Girl Genius by Phil Foglio. I like Perry Bible Fellowship and I miss Homestar Runner and I understand references to Homestuck but I dont really get it. I still wish I owned more Invader Zim, but Johnny the Homicidal Maniac also loses me. I like killing vampires better than killing zombies and like hunting fairies with cold iron better than either activity. I like Lady Gaga, Of Monsters and Men, Neko Case, The Kinks, KT Tunstall, Lindsey Stirling, Shakira, The Damned, The Eagles, The Pogues, The Ramones and Uncle Bonsai, but not every song they ever did. I like a lot of things I havent mentioned here, So dont goddamn tell me I dont like anything just because I dont always like what someone with a lot of money wants me to like right there and then!
