Dear Mr. Abouhalkah: Thank you for your column!! Yes, Mr. Phelps is a very hateful man who has done some appalling evil things, But the Good Book teaches us to hate sin, not the sinner. And, those whom he hurt do have an obligation to forgive him--were they to do so and do so in a public way, it would be the most powerful message against hate since the late Nelson Mandela, newly elected President of South Africa in 1994, paid a courtesy visit to the widow of the white South African President who had imprisoned him for 28 years starting in 1962.
