Dear Mr. Henson, you would have been 78 today. I am sitting here thinking about all of the things your creations taught me, like cooperation, respect, joy, the fact that some pigs know karate, but, more importantly, that we all have a song inside of us that harmonizes with a song greater than ourselves. I hated how much I was like Red Fraggle. I hated how she always had to be right and the best, because I saw so much of myself in her. The truth is, we are all like Red, trying to be the best and the brightest, to be seen and heard. But we are also brave like Gobo, dreamers like Mokey, intrepid explorers like Uncle Traveling Matt, we wemble like Wembley, and we catastrophize like Boober. We are as wise as a trash heap and as industrious as a doozer, but not many of us can nurture the true voice of others like Cantus could, like you did... Thank you for guiding the way, for giving us a hand up, for showing us that when we work together the world is truly magical. Happy Birthday
