Dear Mrs Spider, I wanted to let you know that Im aware that you and your children are living in the corner of the hall downstairs, and that when removing my bicycle from the stairs for work I have tried to avoid disturbing your family as much as possible. However, despite your best attempts to hide them from me, I have noticed the decorative cards and envelopes hidden in your web and wanted to let you know before you send us a formal request that unfortunately we cannot welcome you into our flat. We hold no grudge against you, its simply that we do not have the furnishings to cater to a spider of your size, and so we worry for your safety should you enter our fine home. We can only accommodate spiders of small to medium build during the cooler months. I wanted to let you know before you marked your finely decorative cards with our names and address - and this means you can use those materials to better effect by contacting one of the other flats nearby, like the one next door to us. Next year we intend to update our existing spider supplies, and will intend to purchase materials (cutlery, chairs, napkins, etc) for the larger house spider.
