Dear NAPO Members: Please join us in our efforts to block the pending parole of Jesus Cecene, inmate C-08487, who is serving a life sentence for the execution-style murder of San Diego Patrolman Archie Buggs. Contact Governor Brown today to oppose Cecene’s parole. (The Governor’s contact information is available at the bottom of this post). On November 4, 1978, Officer Buggs was working alone, on uniformed patrol. At approximately 1:00 am, he was shot four times while conducting a traffic stop - three times in the right side and once in the right temple. He was found lying face down in the street, with his hand still on his service revolver, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Jesus Cecena and Jose Arteaga were found guilty of Officer Buggs’ murder. Both murderers received the just sentence of ‘life without parole. It makes no sense that the man who actually pulled the trigger and murdered Officer Archie Buggs should be paroled under any circumstance. Jesus Cecena brutally took the life of a dedicated public servant and significantly affected the lives of Officer Buggs’ family, friends, co-workers, and the entire law enforcement community.
